From the kayak club Les Prajou you can paddle up this small winding river (2km) with or without a guide. You will discover its hidden charms amongst which are the two mills: Milin Prat and Milin Coz. You can disembark from your kayak in front of the former and carry it up the overflow and then get back on board. When you get to Milin Coz, you can turn around and go back to the kayak club, enjoying the slide down at Milin Prat (kayaks use it on their way downriver and fish on their way up).
This nautical journey along the estuary of the river Jaudy allows children and adults alike to discover a unique protected landscape. The estuary, once a route inland for invaders and later a commercial waterway, is now a nature preserve. Birds are numerous and the wildlife very specific to this particular environment.
Your kayaking guide accompanied by a nature specialist will take you on the trail of the seaweed pickers, down to a tidal watermill and along the old ports and quays.
Setting off from the coastguards’ old base in Beg Ar Vilin in Plougrescant, you will paddle along the coast in the direction of Porz-Hir. You will see numerous oyster beds at the end of this shallow part of the sea. Once you have paddled round the rock opposite Porz-Hir, it’s time to aim for your main destination, the island of Er and its “Petite Ile” (literally “small island”). You will go through the pass that separates the two islands when the tide is in and find yourself in a idyllic small lagoon sheltered from the waves and the wind. Once you are through the pass, you will be facing the island of Loaven which you will paddle around in order to get back to the base.
